The Hells Angels, the world’s most infamous motorcycle club, have opened their first chapter in Michigan, establishing the Hells Angels Michigan Nomads near Mount Pleasant in the center of the state. Based on the West Coast, the iconic Hells Angels began expanding into the Midwest in the late 1960s, but until now, had never planted a flag in Michigan due to it being prime territory for the rival Outlaws MC, the nation’s preeminent rustbelt biker crew. The Outlaws and Hells Angels have been at war since 1974 when Outlaws in Florida killed a group of Hells Angels from Boston. Headquartered out of Detroit and Chicago, the Outlaws have maintained a strangle hold on the Midwest biker scene for decades. When the Hells Angels moved into Illinois in the 1990s, violence between the clubs ramped up.
Ralph (Sonny) Barger, 83, founded the Hells Angels’ Oakland chapter in 1957, became the club’s overall boss and grew it to mythic proportions around the globe. Today, Barger lives in Phoenix and remains active in club affairs. Barger commissioned the opening of the club’s first Midwest outpost in Cleveland in 1967, sending Clarence (Butch) Crouch to Ohio to be his personal eyes and ears in the region. Crouch eventually turned state’s evidence and committed suicide in the Witness Protection Program.
In 1988, Barger was convicted in federal court for ordering the bombing of an Outlaws clubhouse in Louisville, Kentucky and did five years in prison. He played a recurring character on the hit FX television show Sons of Anarchy, about a fictional California biker gang.

Barger’s counterpart in The Outlaws, Harry (Taco) Bowman, died behind bars last year. The legendary Bowman headed the club from his home in Detroit for most of the 1980s and 1990s, finally convicted of murder and racketeering in 2001. Per testimony at his trial, Bowman put a murder contract on Barger’s head and had his lieutenants hunting the Hells Angels shot caller near his home in California. Bowman and Barger’s then second-in-command, George Christy, then engaged in a series of peace talks that fell through at the last minute.

This is the second time the HA’s are setting up in Michigan. First time was in Detroit area. A group of 5, 2 from another club and 1from a different club and two non clubbers. The Outlaws went to all the clubs that the HA’s went to to announce that they were here and threatened the clubs about associating with the Angel’s. The 5 disbanded. This was a few years ago.

I’m not a patch holder, but I’ve rode with many clubs. I’ve always been treated with respect, if you respect them. I had a really good friend that was a HA, lived in KC Mo. I’ve got a good friend in Galveston Texas that is a Bandito. Nobody ever disrespected me because I had friends in other clubs. I know there are assholes in every club but as a whole there are good people.
If the government tries to take our rights away, all the bikers should unite.
We would be the strongest army in the USA. I would rather have the bikers backing then the police. We should try to all get along. We may be the ones saving the USA, to keep it FREE.

As for 81 having a Nomad chapter in Detroit, good for them. I’m sure at some point they will encounter OL’s along the way and it won’t be good for either club. For now, the club and it’s members will fly under the radar but not for long, they will recruit or bring in other nomads to boost numbers.

I think there is room for everyone we need to stop fighting each other amd get along. The goverment is the real enemy, Prison sucks, the cops love it when we fight each other. This BS sound like a smoke screen to me. The closest chapter of HA is in IL followed by Indie. Mount pleasant is a stone throw away from the OL chapter in Saginaw MI. They don’t have any support and claim to be a nomad chapter. My suggestion to them is to continue “nomads” your ass out of the state and keep going. Obviously you aren’t that bright and check your surroundings or you are all strung out in Sonny’s BS. ADIOS

Now I’m not saying I hate the Hells Angels, but I grew up around the Outlaws and Black Pistons MC where I live. I am decent friends with the HMFIC of the Black Pistons and Pres of the Outlaws here. I’m rollin’ with them. That’s all I gotta say. But at the same time. They are all fighting about some shit that happened decades ago. In my honest opinion it’s just petty and sad. A true 1%er doesn’t act like this. I know because im around a few damn near every day.
