Two men involved in a fatal January highway shooting — a slain motorcyclist and the former deputy accused of killing him — may be linked to motorcycle clubs, officials said.
Gang investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office waited in court for most of Tuesday for a judge to decide whether Aaron Grant’s tattoos — several of which were visible on his arms, chest and upper back — could be photographed to prove his membership to the Brothers East Motorcycle Club, also described as Beast in court records.
Judge Kristin M. Guiney approved the request and allowed the deputies to photograph him in the court’s holding area. He remains held on $200,000 bail.
Grant, 36, a former Houston-area law enforcement official, is charged with murder after a Jan. 27 shooting along an Interstate 45 feeder road that left Jesse Metzger, 32, dead in a Home Depot parking lot. After being shot, Metzger managed to find refuge in the parking lot and called a friend to report that he had been followed and attacked near Cypresswood Drive, Assistant District Attorney Amanda Benavides said in court.
