DETECTIVES have released footage of their raid on a Rebel bikie’s house in Byford where they seized a handgun, cocaine and a stolen Harley Davidson.

In their bid to stop an escalating turf war and curtail outlaw motorcycle gangs and their operations across WA, police have also laid numerous charges against various members of the Comanchero and Rebels bikie gangs.

The raid by the Gang Crime Squad and the Tactical Response Group follows several flare-ups between the two groups involving a failed assassination bid, fire-bombings of tattoo parlours, a vicious punch-up outside the Crown entertainment complex, a drive-by shooting and a mass defection of Rebels members to the Comancheros.

On September 18, a 53-year-old man, a member of the Southern Independence Motorcycle Club aligned to the Rebels motorcycle gang, was tricked into stopping his Harley Davidson after an unmarked SUV with a flashing blue light signalled him to pull over to the roadside.

The man was shot in the stomach and arm before the car, believed to be carrying men with connections to the Comancheros, sped off. The car has since been found, impounded and has undergone extensive forensic testing.

Police are refusing to say whether the bikie is talking to police or maintaining the bikies’ code of silence. They did say the victim was “lucky to be alive” and will recover, but will suffer long-term psychological issues.

They have vowed to keep the pressure on all motorcycle gang members to disrupt any criminal activity.

“We will keep the pressure on until they start complying with the law,” said Gang Crime Squad detective senior-sergeant Jason Beesley.

“We feel like we are getting on top of it. We can put strategies in place to disrupt activities that are now going on.”

One major concern was public safety because “the public happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time” some innocent parties may get injured or even killed, he said.

One response to “Police raid Rebels bikie house in Byford seize gun, Harley Davidson, drugs”

  1. […] Police raid Rebels bikie house in Byford seize gun, Harley Davidson, drugs After four years in Milwaukee I was reassigned to California and brought the bike, Wisconsin plates and all. My goal, the one I proposed to my new bosses, was to investigate and infiltrate the one-percenters of Greater L.A. After arriving, I got in touch with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. They’d been keeping tabs on these guys. My contact there told me about a potential confidential informant—a CI—named Junior. He said Junior’d tried to join the Hells Angels but had been “run down the road” for some reason. I got Junior a bike and gave him some cash. We started in Hollywood, where he had a connection with the local Vagos chapter. The name is Spanish slang for someone who does nothing all day—a vagrant or vagabond. They formed in the 1960s in the Inland Empire, and while they do have a Hispanic presence—the Venice chapter back in the day was pretty much entirely Hispanic—they’re mostly white; no blacks. The horned creature on their patch is Loki, a god of mischief in Norse mythology. But you don’t get to wear that logo as a “full-patch” member without putting in a lot of time. Unless you have enough street cred or contacts to get “windowed in,” the first step is to hang around until they give you permission to refer to yourself as, well, a “hang-around.” Make it through that phase, and you become a “prospect.” Then they give you the “rocker”—the bottom part of the patch that goes on the back of a vest—which means they’re gonna really test you to get the full patch. Junior wasn’t an official hang-around, but I was playing the long game: I wanted him to get his patch, and he’d be able to vouch for me so I could try to get my patch, too. […]
