The Solidarity Helping Hand motorbike club hosts the event annually.

Elderly ladies from Danville and surrounding areas ladies were treated to an early Christmas lunch and gifts by the Solidarity Helping Hand motorbike club on Saturday, during the club’s fourth annual Christmas carols run.

“We buy them gifts according to their wish lists which were compiled earlier in the year,” said organiser Johan Boning.

Boning also said their bike club challenged the stereotype of bikers being “rough around the edges”.

“Bikers have such a big heart for charity,” he said.

He added that it was a Christian-based bike club.

Boning’s wife Isabel said the event was close to her heart.

“When I was younger I always said I wanted to do something special for elderly people because I don’t like to see people suffering.”

She added that she also wanted to bring back the “traditional” atmosphere of Christmas.

“It must feel like Christmas is coming back; I mean, in South Africa we don’t have Christmas,” Isabel explained.

Entertainers Andre Nel and Francois van Rensburg who performed at the event said they felt honoured to be involved in the project.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The American Guardians Motorcycle Club made the trip from Jacksonville to deliver presents and a holiday dinner to families at the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville Friday.

It’s a tradition the club has had for the past 3 years.

“It’s a blessing we can do this for the children and their families,” said Paul Wright, Sergeant at Arms, a member of the riding club.

They also brought a meal donated from Golden Corral. All in an effort they say to try to make Christmas a little brighter.

“The families are here for an unfortunate reason hopefully these toys in the meal that we actually provide the kids and their parents a little more joy and hope for this season,” said Wright.

Staff say many of the families do not get to go home for the holidays. They say all of these presents will eventually make their way into a Santa room where parents can pick out gift for their children.

Staff say they always need volunteers and they have a wish list of needs for their house on their website.
