DANVILLE — An 18-year-old Danville man wanted in connection with a double homicide outside the Untouchables Motorcycle Club in June is behind bars.

Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said Deontae N. Bright was arrested around 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Indianapolis area.

Bright had been wanted on a murder warrant in the June 16 shooting deaths of Albert Gardner, 23, and Tahji S. McGill, 17, both of Danville.

Police were called to the motorcycle club at 610 Commercial St. around 2 a.m. that day for a report of shots fired. They found three victims, including a 36-year-old man who was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The warrant, filed by the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, cited charges of first-degree murder-intent to kill and carries a $5 million bond.

Thomason said Danville detectives got a tip through Crime Stoppers and provided the information to the Indianapolis Metro Police and U.S. Marshal’s Office, who took Bright into custody without incident in the Indianapolis area.

Thomason said Bright is awaiting extradition to Illinois.

Thomason called the tip “an exceptional piece of information” and said it shows how important reporting any information, no matter how small someone believe it to be, to law enforcement can help solve violent crimes.

“We encourage anyone with information related to crimes to use the Vermilion County Crime Stoppers’ tip line, 446-TIPS, anytime they have information,” Thomason said. “It is a proven anonymous system that also provides cash rewards to the tipster.”

The shooting occurred on a weekend the motorcycle club was hosting a Father’s Day field meet, which included a dance on Saturday night and a race on Sunday, and didn’t involve any members or their guests, according to a member. He said some people had gathered Friday night for a party, and the shooting occurred early the next morning.

One response to “18-year-old arrested in June shooting deaths at Danville motorcycle club”

  1. […] The history of the club can be found on line with a simple Google search. The extent of the information is minimal for a reason. In the history of the club we have never been deemed or labeled as an outlaw MC. Nor have we been found to be involved in organized crime, charged with the same or have charges pending. Our members are employed. We have cabinet makers, brick layers, cement foreman, bouncers and security staff, car mechanics, bike mechanics, truck drivers, plant workers, sales people, store owners, business owners and the list goes on. Some of our members are also athletes and are involved in boxing, martial arts, MMA, body building at a competitive level and are non drinkers and smokers. Many have post secondary education. 18-year-old arrested in June shooting deaths at Danville motorcycle club […]
