Police are hunting a biker who gave officers the slip by riding down an alleyway. Staffordshire Police’s roads policing unit had attempted to pull over the motorbike in Newcastle yesterday morning.
But the rider made off and went down an alley which was too big for the team’s superpowered BMW. But officers say the registration has been noted.
In a Tweet the roads policing team wrote: “Our new BMW has horsepower of 210 kW @ 4,000 rpm, acceleration 0-62 mph: 5.6 seconds. What it can’t do though is fit down a 3ft alleyway in Newcastle. We have the registration number and we will be knocking on the door of the driver soon.”
The team also shared an image from the dashcam showing the biker making their sneaky getaway.
A spokeswoman for the force confirmed an investigation was ongoing. She said: “At around 11am yesterday (September 5) a motorbike failed to stop for officers on Redmine Close in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Enquiries are on-going to trace the driver.”
