- The new customer base they aspire to reach, millennials, by and large don’t care for motorcycles in general and hate Harley Davidsons in particular.
- The product line the company introduced to reach the few members of aforementioned customer base who might be interested are not competitive for a number of reasons, not the least of which are high price and indifferent build quality. The Live Wire is overpriced, the XG models are overpriced crap, and the Pan American is too little too late.
- The high overhead costs imposed by Harley Davidson on dealers in order to keep their franchises, such as buildings and merchandising.
