LEE COUNTY, Fla. — When dawn turns to dusk and parking lots begin to clear, the night is just getting started for drivers looking to showcase their sweet rides…and perhaps, some reckless stunts.
On the evening of April 29, 2023, an empty lot in the area of Gladiolus Drive and San Carlos Boulevard was the meeting spot for a large car club. This particular meet, however, had no intentions of being discreet.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), deputies began receiving several 911 calls at around 11:05 p.m. in reference to multiple vehicles revving their engines and doing donuts in a large vacant parking lot. When deputies arrived a the scene, a large car club quickly began to disperse.
Shortly after, a group of ATVs and dirt bikes arrived and joined the group of cars. The crowd began acting out of control and LCSO aviation units were called for assistance.
