TAOS, New Mexico, May 28 (Reuters) – A biker was charged with murder after a shootout between rival motorbike gangs at a motorcycle rally in Red River, northern New Mexico, on Saturday in which three gang members were killed and five wounded, police said.
Members of the Bandidos and Waterdogs groups traded gunfire around 5:00 p.m. (2100 GMT) on the packed main street of the mountain resort town 75 miles northeast of state capital Santa Fe, State Police Chief Tim Johnson said on Sunday.
“It was just gangbanger on gangbanger,” Johnson told a press conference in Red River, adding that no bystanders were injured.

One response to “A biker was charged with murder after a shootout between rival motorbike gangs at a motorcycle rally in Red River”
Monitoring and surveillance of movement by that infamous dominant Texas MC gang didn’t commence recently, it began in response to rampant MC gang violence and organized criminal activity in the 1970’s and become an intelligence gathering priority of the Lone Star State after the December 26, 1986 roadside ambush/attempted capital murder of Texas DPS Trooper Coleman in Austin TX, when Bandidos gang member Donnie Wayne Snell opened fire from a van during a traffic stop. Miraculously the Trooper survived the gunshot wounds and retired many years later after a storied career. There’s a reason why for decades many Texas Bandidos find themselves serving lengthy prison sentences. Mindless MC gang violence has also been a constant for decades, today’s instant viral media coverage is why it seems to be more prevalent. I suspect the only recent change in the monitoring and surveilling of criminal organizations is a huge leap forward in affordable technical capabilities. Don’t know if there was extensive video & drone surveillance by law enforcement during the 2023 Red River event, but if not I’d be willing to bet there will be in 2024. Even so, 1%ers willing to fight to the death over a “disrespecting” photo probably aren’t smart enough to be deterred by the certainty of their crimes being captured on video.
