A local man was arrested on a felony battery charge Saturday night after allegedly attacking a fellow member of his motorcycle club with an ax handle during an argument, causing multiple lacerations to his head.

Justin Shawn Hanratty, 37, who lists a Vanadium Circle address, was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. and charged with second-degree battery, punishable by up to six years in prison.

Hanratty, who lists no prior criminal history, was released later that night on a $2,500 bond and is set to appear June 6 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit obtained Wednesday, shortly after 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Hot Springs police responded to the 200 block of Vivian Street regarding a male being struck numerous times with an ax handle.

While approaching the area, the victim, 25, was located walking down Whittington Avenue and Officer Cash Murray stopped to render aid to him. He noted the victim had a 2-inch long laceration to the front of his head and several other 1-inch lacerations around his head.
