Parallel-twin engines have well and truly taken over here, with names like Aprilia, Suzuki, and Yamaha exploring the idea. Out of all these, though, it is a brand-new KTM that tops the charts in terms of peak performance. That too, while costing under $15,000!

Parallel-twin engines are all the rage in the middleweight segment today, so there’s no shortage of such sports bikes. Among all of these, it is KTM that tops the charts with the brand-new 990 RC R. The parallel-twin powerhouse comes from the 990 Duke R, producing 128 horsepower and 76 pound-feet. Both figures are way higher than any other parallel-twin sports bike on offer under $15,000 right now.

Heck, it’s even higher than traditional inline-four supersports like the Suzuki GSX-R600, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, or the Honda CBR600RR.
