A dozen Hells Angels bikies have been charged with consorting with criminals during a period of what police describe as “escalating tension” with a rival gang.
Strike Force Bension was established in August this year to respond to the intensifying feud between the Hells Angels and the Gladiators, following an alleged clubhouse “takeover” in the New South Wales Hunter region in July.
Police issued 27 public safety orders against alleged gang members and associates, to prevent them visiting the clubhouse afterwards.
Since August, more than 30 consorting warnings were issued to alleged members of the Hells Angels.
However, police allege these warnings were breached on various national runs and the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations, in NSW, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, and Victoria.
