In a significant development for law enforcement monitoring outlaw motorcycle clubs in Missouri, three members of the Galloping Goose Motorcycle Club have pleaded guilty to serious federal charges tied to a violent confrontation that left one man dead at the Lake of the Ozarks. The incidents highlight ongoing tensions between rival groups and the role of racketeering activities in fueling street-level conflicts.

The pleas come years after the July 2021 brawl outside Casablanca Pub and Grille on the busy Bagnell Dam Strip. Court documents detail how members of the Galloping Goose clashed with rivals from the Iron Celtics Motorcycle Association, resulting in gunfire that claimed the life of a man identified only as “B.C.” Security footage reportedly captured key moments of the chaos, including one defendant drawing and firing a weapon after being confronted.

Tonka Way Con Ponder, 55, identified as the leader of the club’s Lake of the Ozarks chapter, entered his guilty plea on May 13. He admitted to multiple counts, including crimes of violence in aid of racketeering, conspiracy to commit such crimes, shooting a firearm during a violent offense, methamphetamine-related offenses, and possession of unregistered firearms, including a silencer. His admissions also cover broader conspiracies involving attacks on Iron Celtics and Mongols members.

Tretch Lawrence, 50, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a count of crime of violence in aid of racketeering and attempted extortion. Prosecutors say he threatened Iron Celtics members at their residence, demanding money as part of the club’s activities.

Keith Nolen, 36, pleaded guilty on May 5 to charges including crime of violence in aid of racketeering, conspiracy, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Both Ponder and Nolen acknowledged participating in additional assaults, such as a December 2021 incident at the Chuckwagon Cafe in Camdenton targeting Iron Celtics members.

The case stems from a larger federal indictment returned in June 2024 against several individuals associated with the Galloping Goose, portraying the group as an organized criminal enterprise involved in violence, drug trafficking, and illegal weapons possession. Authorities allege these actions created a climate of intimidation in the region.

This outcome reflects federal efforts to disrupt patterns of retaliation and territorial disputes among motorcycle clubs. The deadly 2021 shooting occurred amid heightened rivalries, with participants allegedly conspiring to target opposing groups, escalating what began as an assault into a fatal encounter.

For the broader biker community and observers of MC culture, such cases underscore the high stakes of club affiliations. While many enthusiasts enjoy the open road and brotherhood peacefully, law enforcement continues to scrutinize activities that cross into criminal territory. Sentencing for the three men is pending, with potential lengthy prison terms given the racketeering and firearms enhancements.

The Lake of the Ozarks area, popular for its scenic routes and vibrant motorcycle scene, has seen its share of high-profile incidents. This resolution may bring some closure to victims’ families while serving as a reminder of the consequences when club disputes turn lethal.
