SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — A popular weekly Bike Night event at Cadillac Ranch Restaurant turned violent on Wednesday evening, July 15, 2026, leaving one man critically injured by a gunshot and prompting charges against eight individuals. Southington police responded to reports of a shooting around 7 p.m. in the restaurant’s parking lot, where a large crowd of motorcycle enthusiasts had gathered.

According to authorities, a physical altercation began among attendees. During the chaos, a firearm was discharged, striking a 25-year-old man in the chest. He was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. A second victim, a 44-year-old man, was assaulted during the same incident and hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening. Both victims are expected to survive.

Investigators determined that four suspects allegedly acted together in assaulting the 44-year-old man. Police recovered a firearm from the scene as they worked through a congested parking lot filled with motorcycles and patrons. The establishment was hosting its regular Bike Night, drawing members from several motorcycle clubs and general enthusiasts, which contributed to the crowded and tense environment.

Eight men were arrested and charged in connection with the incident. Those facing second-degree assault charges include:

  • James McDermott, 52, of Waterbury
  • Gerard McAfee, 54, of Branford
  • Philip Gugliotti, 55, of Waterbury
  • Harley Woodbury, 31, of Terryville

These four appeared in New Britain Superior Court on Thursday, where their bonds were reduced from $150,000 to $50,000 each.

Four additional men were charged with interfering with an officer:

  • Kevin Lawlor, 48, of Derby
  • William Schneiter, 60, of Baltic
  • Marc Debenigno, 49, of Waterbury
  • Zarif Ramadanov, 46, of Bethany

They are scheduled to appear in court on July 29.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety at large motorcycle gatherings in Connecticut. While Bike Nights are popular social events that celebrate riding culture, they occasionally draw crowds that can escalate quickly when disputes arise. Southington police described the scene as “very congested,” with motorcycle club members present among the general enthusiasts. No specific clubs have been publicly identified as being involved in the altercation, and authorities have not released details on a possible motive.

The investigation remains active. Police are urging witnesses or anyone with video footage or additional information to contact detectives at 860-378-1642 or 860-378-1646. Anonymous tips are welcomed. As court proceedings move forward, more details may emerge regarding the sequence of events and any underlying disputes.

This case serves as a reminder of the thin line between camaraderie and conflict in tightly packed social settings. Cadillac Ranch, a known destination for riders in central Connecticut, continues operations, but the incident is likely to prompt discussions about enhanced security at future events. Local law enforcement continues to monitor the situation closely while the victims receive medical care.
