I was contacted by a sponsor of Motorcycle Madhouse who is trying to get the word out on the issues facing the motorcycle club scene. He enclosed a response to an email he received regarding a run in which he is organizing to fight back on motorcycle profiling. The following was the response to his promotion of the ride. It hasn’t been edited.

I read the letter and I am dismayed your first example paragraph references a 1% organization. We have a no contact bylaw. So none of my crew will be participating in any rides. That have 1% affiliation. We expressly support Veterans rides and vet issues. We usually avoid large organized rides as a rule .

While the Mongols court case is disconcerting 1/3 my crew rocks security clearances and some actively contract overseas and have serious clearances. Our non association protects all involved. If it’s not a dedicated vet ride. U prolly will never see us there officially.

I don’t believe. Your letter will be universally effective by using a 1% clubs as your lead off example. It’s an example of legislative overreach but not the best for a broad audience.

As a former Marine Sniper/ combat vet and President of a Club I see my guys as my platoon mates. If I don’t think something is good for them I will lead them away. And we always stear away from big events as a rule.Getting the public to not see all Bikers as criminals is made harder when we obviously know that criminal bike shootouts and big incidents make far better news than peaceful rallies.
This is why alot of bike clubs mind their own business and keep low profiles.
Good luck with your mission and be careful. Most trouble u encounter will be OTHER BIKERS with agendas.

Well, least the dude didn’t hide his real opinions of 1% clubs. Actually, looks like he could’ve taken it right from Gangland or from a law enforcement handbook. I find it interesting where he says “. If I don’t think something is good for them I will lead them away. And we always steer away from big events as a rule.” Sounds like a dictatorship, more importantly sounds like a boring existence. Why would any traditional legitimate club make a rule to stay away from biker events and runs? Sounds like this is a club which didn’t follow protocol to open up.

This is textbook of what happens with pop up clubs. They will throw on colors and take all kinds of pictures in front of their houses and post them. Boom! They are an MC. God forbid they actually go to any events. Why don’t they you ask? Because they would have to stand up for what they are saying they are. Have to back those colors. Nope, these clubs stay hidden and “Low Profile” so they don’t have too.

Lets Talk Broad Audience

It’s no secret in recent years LEO, and Mainstream Media stories have taken a toll on the image of motorcycle clubs. This is especially true of 1% clubs. In my last article “Attention MC Members – 2019 could be a crossroad for motorcycle clubs.Narrative being monopolized by Law Enforcement and Government Agencies. ” I specifically talked about the problem of LEO and Media controlling the narrative with the general public. The email above couldn’t be a better example of the argument I made concerning it’s potency and perception of motorcycle clubs . Thus the reason I argued motorcycle clubs need to be proactive in fighting off the propaganda being released by Leo and Media outlets. My suggestion in the last piece was “Public Relations Officers.” Motorcycle clubs need to get their side of the story out to the general public. Don’t let Leo and media control the narrative. Fight them on their own platforms. Clubs staying silent while Leo and Media control the narrative will do more damage to 1% clubs than rats and snitches could do. Why? #SAVETHEPATCH.

Right now the club scene has a fight underway. A fight in which the government is active in going after the trademark and copyrights of the Mongols MC. Most know the details of the case, so I won’t be repetitive in going over it again. I never thought I would see a day when the general public would support such an action. Nevertheless, jurors found in favor of such an action. Worse? We have those in the club community as well as independent bikers supporting the actions of the government taking away the Mongols property and rights. This is mind boggling to say the least. But this is what happens when the narrative 1% clubs are criminal is hammered into peoples minds. This is not the first time I’ve seen viewpoints like expressed above in that email response. It’s actually becoming more and more common.

Who is the broad audience in which the emailer is speaking of? It’s obvious those who are law enforcement connected. But we can’t put all the blame on people who claim Leo affiliation. The broader audience is regular everyday independent bikers. Just like any other subset of a lifestyle, each community within a subset changes over time. Independent Bikers make up the most in terms of numbers and demographics in the biker lifestyle. The independent biker and the beliefs they hold have dramatically shifted from being a rebel in mindset to mainstream conformant. Why? Who knows. Partly because the way the lifestyle use to be is no more. It’s now filled with individuals who are going through nothing more than a midlife crisis. These individuals have no love or even the mere understanding of living the biker life day in and day out. To these people it’s just a phase they are going through. They won’t put themselves out there to help any ones cause. This has to make up about half of the independent bikers now. It’s a sad thing, but it’s true.

What’s has this done for the rest of us? It dilutes the lifestyle, and it allows people to work against the greater good. Many in the mid 90’s seen this coming when the RUB rush started. Everyone knew at that time the lifestyle would change drastically if these mid-life crisis motorcycle enthusiasts started playing biker. Low and behold it did.
What you enjoy today was paid for in blood, sweat and tears of the old timers.
One of the things that drives me nuts. The fact these new age so called bikers don’t understand the lifestyle.

The biggest thing people like the one who wrote this email don’t get. It was the old timers of the 70’s 80’s that paved the way for the lifestyle they enjoy today. It was the members of those 1% clubs who fought back and forth with the government to get the rights we have today. It was members of a newly formed organization called ABATE who fought in every legislative state house to get the “Right to Choose.” These were the people who made it possible for you to enjoy the lifestyle openly by changing the mindset the public had about bikers. Before the rub invasion. The biker lifestyle was only for the true hearted. It wasn’t cool at all to be a biker in those days. Them old timers were harassed for just going down the street for a beer. One of the major reasons clubhouses came to be. Now these new age bikers come along and throw all that hard work and dedication away by sucking LEO pole.

Do you have to support particular clubs? No! But at least have an ounce of knowledge to know who paid the price for what you’re trying to act like. It sure the hell wasn’t the cops. No, it was people who wouldn’t lay down and give up their convictions. It was members of clubs who fought the fight . So to the emailer I say “Go smoke a LEO pole and take your security clearances with you.” You’re a coward. A hypocrite and weak minded fool. You want to play the part or club, but don’t want to stand up for those colors. I bet you’re the type of guy who would hand those colors right over if Leo told you too. In the end, you’re no more a club member than most of these RUBS playing wild hogs.

Motorcycle Profiling Project

For those who are ready to get into the fight against motorcycle profiling. I’m recommending as your first step to go over to MPP’s website. MPP is the motorcycle profiling projects website. The main contributor and motorcycle rights activist is David “Double D” Devereaux. This man is someone who works tirelessly for the motorcycle community as a whole. He works for the independent biker, clubber and every motorcycle enthusiast out there. I’ve enclosed some information about Double D as well as the motorcycle profiling project from their website below. I highly encouraged everyone of you to go and take a look at the site and bookmark it. On the site you will find up to date news on what is happening in the scene regarding motorcycle profiling incidences as well as editorials from Double D.

The Motorcycle Profiling project is the Front Lines for those who wish to get in the fight. The question for you as a biker or even a motorcycle enthusiast. Do you actually believe in the lifestyle you claim to live? If you do, are you ready to get in the fight against government over reach and discrimination? If the answer is yes. There are many organizations in which to belong to listed on MPP’s website. If the answer is no. Then take your ass down the road and play wannabe biker. If you cannot stand up and fight, what kind of biker are you really?

A motorcycle rights activist from Washington State, and a leading advocate for laws addressing the issue of motorcycle profiling in America. Double D spearheaded the effort in Washington as spokesperson for the movement. Double D represents the Washington State COC and US Defenders, NCOM Legislative Task Force, US Defenders National Office, BOLT, and he is a member or supporter of ABATE, the MRF, and the AMA. * http://www.motorcycleprofilingproject.com/about/

What is the Motorcycle Profiling Project? The Motorcycle Profiling Project is dedicated to the grassroots effort to pass laws addressing profiling and discrimination. The Motorcycle Profiling Project isn’t intended to replace other organizations. Rather, the project is intended to coordinate the different elements and organizations in each state to specifically pass laws addressing profiling and discrimination. The Motorcycle Profiling Project believes in the unification of all motorcycle rights organizations toward the common goal of fighting discrimination and profiling, including the Confederations and Coalitions of Clubs, US Defenders, C.O.I.R., ABATE, MMA, NCOM, MRF, AMA and the many smaller MRO’s that exist around the country. * http://www.motorcycleprofilingproject.com/about/

Conclusion

There is a time in a mans life when he has to ask himself. What do you stand for? Do you truly believe in what your doing or who you portray yourself to be? Only the individual can answer these questions. Are you for real or just another hypocrite pretending to be something you’re not?

The old timers and grey beards before us fought with heart and soul for the biker lifestyle. Will you follow the same path and fight for what you believe in or will you lay down to a government who is now out of control? Will you stand back and watch the government clearly violate the rights of people just because they ride a motorcycle or are members of a club? If you do, you’re no more American then those who illegally cross the border. Why? Because Americans fight to preserve who they are as a people. We don’t stand around while the government imposes it’s will over us. Bikers should never be pulled over & harassed just because they belong to certain organizations. No, being a biker is about freedom. Something that from time to time you have to step forward and fight for. The time for the fight is now. Get involved with the many MRO’s and make a contribution to the cause. Stop towing the BS LEO line. Become who you pretend to be. Join those brothers and sisters around the country who are fighting for your rights every day. Step up and make a difference.

  1. Like the RICO laws, the government lies about their intent. We all need to stand up to them. They won’t stop. If they can’t harass you, imprison you into being a good OBEDIENT slave, they’ll fiscally ruin you.
Stopping them now will be easier than in 10 years. The over reaching government and their agents(LEO) must be stopped.
