The man who was shot dead in broad daylight outside a Mississauga gym at lunchtime on Monday was a member of the Niagara Region charter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.
Michael Deabaitua-Schulde, 32, lived in Mississauga but belonged to the newly-restructured Niagara Region arm of the Hells Angels, who have about 550 members nationwide.
Deabaitua-Schulde was close to a senior Hells Angels member from London, Ont. who moved to the Niagara Region to bolster its strength, multiple sources told the Star.
The hunt continues for the gunman and his accomplice who shot and killed Michael Deabaitua-Schulde of Mississauga in the parking lot of a plaza at 700 Dundas St. E. near Cawthra Road.
Deabaitua-Schulde was bleeding heavily when officers arrived in droves after 911 calls reporting the shooting shortly before 11:20 a.m.
He died later on Monday in hospital.
Police found a torched blue Honda Civic nearby in the area of Rymal Rd. and Tomken Rd.
The suspects are described as two men wearing dark hoodies who fled the area in the Honda.
The plaza houses Huf Gym, the Floor Shop and other businesses.
It’s believed the deadly shooting occurred just outside the gym. One witness, who didn’t want to be identified, told the Mississauga News he heard six shots.
