BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY —
The National Park Service has released the name of a motorcyclist killed earlier this week on the Blue Ridge Parkway when he tried to avoid crashing into a friend.
A news release from the Park Service said three motorcyclists were traveling northbound together on the Parkway at about 5:30 p.m. when the first biker went into a curve, lost control of his bike and laid it down.
National Park Service officials said Da’juan Morrison, 41, of Rockingham, Virginia, was killed Tuesday afternoon when he tried to avoid crashing into the other biker.
Police said Morrison appeared to have lost control while trying to avoid hitting the first biker.
Morrison was thrown from his bike, striking a guardrail, and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Park officials said the crash happened near Humpback Rocks.
