MOUNT PLEASANT, MI — Several blogs are claiming the California-based Hells Angels motorcycle club has recently set up a charter in mid-Michigan.
On Feb. 8, the website http://www.gangsterreport.com reported the Hells Angels in January opened their first Michigan charter near Mount Pleasant in Isabella County. The charter is reportedly dubbed the Hells Angels Michigan Nomads.
The article, credited to Scott Burnstein, cites an announcement on the club’s website as the source of the information. A brief line on http://www.hells-angels.com states a new charter was established in Michigan in February. A map on the website shows a charter established in Michigan in 2020. The location shown on the map is closer to Lansing than Mount Pleasant. No additional details are provided.
The rival Outlaws motorcycle club has four chapters in Michigan, specifically in Bay City, Grand Rapids, and two in Detroit, according to their website.
Isabella County Sheriff Mike Main on Thursday said he has read the report about the Hells Angels and has looked into its claims.
“I can tell you, we’ve seen nothing,” Main said. “We’ve received no actual intelligence indicating such. Anything could happen and we’ll keep our eyes open and monitor the situation.”
Mount Pleasant police echoed the sheriff’s sentiment.
“We actually have nothing to support that that is occurring at all,” said Officer Autume Balcom, the Mount Pleasant Police Department’s public information officer. “We have no information on that. We have run it by a couple of people in the department and our detectives, but we just have no information to support that.”
MLive was unable to reach a Hells Angels representative or Burnstein.
The first Hells Angels club was founded in 1948 in the Fontana/San Bernadino area of California, according to the organization’s website. Since then, the club has expanded its presence to 26 states and dozens of countries worldwide.

It’s been a while, but have seen HA’s in Michigan with Michigan on their vests. Reportedly a small club in the northern part of Michigan??? But I never seen them again after that, but there was 2 of them riding together, riding West out of Holland a few years ago, I was surprised to see they had Michigan on the vest… I didn’t think the HA’s would be this far North/East???

Been to some events up in the wolverine.. seen lots of avengers..hywaymen.. outlaws..no angels.. buckeye state is lil bit different lots of angles a tricle of others..i wish they would stop the fucking wars and killing … and get back to riding bikes… no one gives a fuck about grass …but these destructive …homicidal fucking chemical drugs they are pumping out to the streets now are damaging to Everyone… kids dying.. bikers getting all jacked up and dying.. familys getting fucked up.. ummm keep this in mind..families and kids are a very important faction to motorcycle clubs…no matter how bad ass or what colors you got or 1% or what ever your story may be.. the MAN will always be a mutual enemy of most people who posses a functional brain and a heart beat.. leos lie.. biggest gang out there… BUT……. these young bastards didnt read the whole book of rules.. they only want to live by the ones that suit them ..so they poison everyone.. and give all of us a bad name… for those of you who just want to be the feared.. or whatever drives you..your losing respect from everyone… ok… here it is..CLUB RULES.. NO FUCKING CHEMICAL DOPE OR YOUR NOT IN THE CLUB…. did you self serving heros miss that one….its always been there… thanks for fucking all our reputations for your own glory ride.. sleep well knowing your killing the kids you claim to care about so much…. im callin bullshit on that one..
