Although today, people might refer to one-percenters today as the percentage of the richest and most powerful people in the United States, in the 1960’s it had a very different meaning. The catchphrase came from the American Motorcycle Association, which stated that 99 percent of all American biker associations were upstanding citizens. Of course, that meant there was one percent that was not.
